Accused of ‘Not working for the State’
In my writings I've tried to express my views on topics of the day. I've done this for many years but never online in a blog like I am doing now. As I build this blog I have been digging through emails and documents that I've written to see what I should post live for the world (potentially) to see. In an effort to get some of the world to see what I've written (all bloggers want their fame right?) I've started adding my web address to my various posting on other blogs.
It is starting to work. A few people are making their way over here and one person even posted a comment. Ooh aah! My goal is to see if enough people in St. Paul agree with my views for me to make a serious run at the Ward 2 City Council seat. Who knows anything is possible, right? Well in response to one of my postings to the Pioneer Press reader's commentary I have been accused of a most heinous act and I must admit that I am guilty as charged.
I have been accused of "Not being a State Employee". In fact I do not work for any part of our Government. I am not a public employee. I work for a privately owned company. There I confessed. To Liberals of the public employee ilk this must be the most evil thing I can be. After all I was accused as if it was a crime, amoral or somehow wrong.
I responded by saying he was right and I am guilty of not living off of tax payers' dollars. Well, not in those words. But I should have and I am saying that now. I also wrote that I used to work for a Government body at one time. I used to work at HCMC (Hennepin County Medical Center). It was there that I learned that as a public employee you could actually work less every year and earn more money by doing so. Many of my co-workers had perfected this having far more years of experience in not working than me. I admit I tried to emulate them. Even when a supervisor reprimands you for not working the Union can come back and get the reprimand reversed. This was a really cool thing. However, I couldn't last like this forever. It is just not in my nature to be unproductive (But I think I had a supervisor fooled into believing that it was.) I had to get out. So I changed careers and left for the private sector. I am not saying all public employee are lazy sloths like some of my ex co-workers. There were a few like me that just had to be productive. Although, I think they left shortly after I did.
Working in the private sector was bumpy at first. I didn't like the idea of working for big companies where I was just a number. I liked working for small companies, family owned and run. After all, I grew up in a family run business. Besides, small companies are just more fun. The first few companies were Internet startups that "Dot-Bombed" but the others worked out well and I eventually made it to the small company where I currently work. Life is good.
So yes I am guilty as charged. I do not work for the Government. I do not live off of tax payer dollars. I do not demand tax increases so I can get a pay raise and I do not go on strike when I do not get my way. I am a productive employee of a privately owned company.
