MN State budget cuts are increases

Here is a perfect example of a budget cut increase. I've been reading about all the terrible "budget cuts" by the Pawlenty administration. I was pointed to this site as proof of said cuts. (http://www.mncn.org/bp/2003budget.htm

As I read their claims I was surprised to see they posted actual budget numbers that completely contradicted their claims. The facts can not be hidden.

The 2004-2005 budget was NOT smaller than the 2002-2003 budget. It was just smaller than the projected increase. In the end the budget for 2004-2005 was still billions greater that 2002-2003.

2002-2003 total budget: $26,753,000,000
2004-2005 total budget: $28,301,000,000

This amounts to a 5.8% increase in spending. The Liberals claimed it was a spending cut of 8.1% (see the link above).

They just proved my point. Thank you very much.

I'll be digging up more current MN State budget data as soon as I can.
