Who gets Federal Energy Subsidies

Energy Subsidies increased from 1999-2007

Total Federal energy-specific subsidies and support to all forms of energy are estimated to have reached $16.6 billion for fiscal year (FY) 2007, according to Federal Financial Interventions and Subsidies in Energy Markets 2007, released today by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Solar$24.34/Mega Watt Hour
Wind$23.37/Mega Watt Hour
Coal$.44 /Mega Watt Hour
Natural Gas$.25/Mega Watt Hour
Ethanol/bio fuel$5.73/BTU of energy produced

According to the report the so-called 'Environment Friendly Alternative Fuels' are receiving billions in subsidies. However, these 'renewable' fuels only produce only %5 of America's energy.
