The Second Amendment and Gun Bans Restrictions Permits

We are hearing lots of talk about renewing gun bans and requiring more registrations and or permits to have a gun or the even complete repeal of the Second Amendment all together.   I truly believe that with Obama all of the above will be attempted pretty much in that order.

QUESTIONS:

Do you know that placing restrictions on the Second Amendment is unconstitutional?

What part of "...shall not be infringed." do people not understand?

Even four of our Supreme Court justices fail to understand that part.

Well if I need a permit to have a gun then I want to see your permit for Freedom of Speech!

NRA membership site crashes on Obama win

I was signing up for an NRA membership preparing for the coming four years. Shortly after completing my signup I was browsing the store, to look for NRA items to purchase, and decided to hit the link to the Membership Signup. For a good 10 to 15 minutes the site was unavailable. I kept trying from other remote locations and had the same results.

I'm not sure what this means, but the Obama win seems to have caused a NRA membership rush.

St Paul Police paid more than you think

Federation petition drive by the Saint Paul Police Offices.

It seems the fine men and women in blue feel they are not soaking the tax payers enough with their high salaries and now they are demanding more. Who doesn't feel for the poor beat Officer? After all they are our servants here to protect and serve us poor helpless citizens. Why not make sure they are paid well? I sure want them paid well. I want the Police to show up when I call them. Well, we have made sure they are paid well. Very well in fact.

Why are you unemployed

Why are you unemployed?

Take a look in the employment section of the newspaper. It's not exactly blank. Look at the job sites on the Internet. There are jobs waiting for someone willing to actually show up and work. Someone who speaks fluently and treats people with respect.

Our State and National Employment rate is very high. Very few people are not working. When Clinton was running for reelection in 1996 we had a National unemployment rate of around 5.6% and he and the media gleefully declared we were at full employment as a Nation. The month after Clinton left office the unemployment rate started climbing. Why? It had nothing to do with President Bush's policies. The economy was two quarters into a recession. Now we have about the same level of unemployment and the same people in the news media are now claiming that unemployment is out of control and we're in a crisis.

German court overturns partial smoking ban

http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/07/30/europe/german.php

It is safe once more to take a drag at Berlin's corner bars, legally speaking if not for your health.

The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe announced Wednesday that it had found regional smoking bans in the German states of Berlin and Baden-Württemberg to be unconstitutional.

The court ruled that by allowing large establishments to maintain separate smoking areas, the bans discriminated against small, one-room locales, such as the "Eckkneipen," or corner pub, as local bars are known here.

As a result, patrons in bars smaller than 75 square meters, or 800 square feet, in the two states could immediately light up for a smoke.

After the ruling, which had been highly anticipated and was broadcast live on German television, representatives from several other German states issued statements saying they would examine their own laws and adapt them to comply with the ruling.

The decision was a rare victory for smokers in what had seemed like an inexorable march toward a complete end to smoking in bars in Europe, with bans already in place in Italy, the United Kingdom, France and beyond.
