Biofuels behind food price hikes: leaked World Bank report Fri Jul 4, 3:34 AM ET

LONDON (AFP)- Biofuels have caused world food prices to increase by 75 percent, according to the findings of an unpublished World Bank report published in The Guardian newspaper on Friday.

The daily said the report was finished in April but was not published to avoid embarrassing the US government, which has claimed plant-derived fuels have pushed up prices by only three percent.

Biofuels, which supporters claim are a "greener" alternative to using fossil fuel and cut greenhouse gas emissions, and rising food prices will be on the agenda when G8 leaders meet in Japan next week for their annual summit.

The report's author, a senior World Bank economist, assessed that contrary to claims by US President George W. Bush, increased demand from India and China has not been the cause of rising food prices.

For those that missed it MN has "recalled" venison donated to food shelves. The state issued a recall after finding bullet fragments in some donated meat. People, bullet fragments can happen when you hunt. Spit them out if you happen to get one in your deer sausage.

What we have here is a failure in the Liberal mind that prevents the synapses from firing and actually creating a coherent intelligent thought.

As I read this article two things come to mind.

One is that someone is really trying hard to eliminate hunting and they know that banning hunting outright would never pass. So, they have to manufacture a health scare to create a crisis that leads to massive panic and frenzy and calls for the Government to fix the problem. (Like when has Government ever truly solved a problem?) Next thing you know they will ban all lead bullets in a "Health and Wellness" law and no one will be allowed to hunt (except with rubber bullets). They have already banned lead shotgun pellets for large amounts of hunting. The incrementalism of Liberal control will ensure that outcome.

The BBC is reporting that Mohammed Hamid, 50, of east London, who organize secret terrorist training camps, has essentially been jailed for life.

Hamid was found guilty of three counts of soliciting to murder and three counts of providing terrorism training. His actual prison term is 7 1/2 years, however was told by the trial judge that he would not be released until he reformed. (Does this mean converting from Islam to Christianity?)

The Imprisonment for Public Protection (IPP) sentence against Hamid was the first use of the powers in a terrorist case.

What does this mean for the United States? It seems that another country has shown it is willing to do what it takes to stop Islamic Terrorists even if that means putting them in jail for the rest of their natural lives.

If this is the case then count my vote in favor. We need to really take this seriously and quit letting the Liberals from the ACLU and the Liberals in elected office tell us that we must hand hold Terrorists and treat them with love and respect.

We must keep the Guantanamo Bay prison open and we need to fill it with terrorists. We need to let our military continue to kill terrorists where they live and we need to prosecute terrorists in military tribunals. Enough is enough.

The fastest way to end the war is to win the war.

The SAVE Act requires employers to enroll (over a phased in period of time) in the E-verify system to check their employees work eligibility.

During the immigration debate last summer everyone agreed we need to stop the jobs magnet and require employers to verify their employees.

Securing our border should be the number one priority for Congress and the SAVE Act would provide additional border agents and technology to deter illegal aliens.

Some states have taken it upon themselves to enforce existing immigration laws and as a result illegal aliens have been shown to be leaving those states in droves heading to states that refuse to enforce immigration laws. Arizona is one such state.

We need to stop employers from higher illegal aliens, we have to enforce the immigration laws (which means no more sanctuary cities) and we have to deport the illegal aliens. This will send the correct message to the illegal aliens and they will leave. Several states have proven this works. Now is the time to do this at a National level.

Back in 2001 our Congress authorized the use of force to fight terrorists. The wording of this document is broad enough to justify all the actions taken by President Bush including the Iraq war and potential future was with other terrorist supporting countries. For those that don't remember what was authorized I have copied the complete document here. So the next time you complain saying that President Bush wasn't authorized to invade Iraq, just re-read this.
