Forgiven

This has made it's way around the internet. My Aunt passed it on to me. Normally I do not continue to propagate chain emails, but this one really does describe the essence of what Christianity means.

When I say..... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin"
I'm whispering "I was lost"
Now I'm found and I'm forgiven.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say.... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say.... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say...."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say...."I am a Christian"
I"m not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

Socialists are Stealing Our Country

Liberals are nothing more than Socialists that want to run our country the way so many socialist countries are run in Europe. The only problems with this are the following; we are a free country, we believe in individual rights, property rights, free markets and capitalism. Liberals are for none of these.

Another big problem is most of the socialist European countries have lost most of their economic base and wealth. They are cutting back on services because not enough people are working and paying taxes. So many people are living on government checks that the few left working can't support the rest of the society.

This is the road that American Liberals aka Democrats are paving for America. They keep pushing for more and more welfare, unemployment benefits, universal health care, and a whole lot of other social programs that are meant to get people on the public dole and quit supporting themselves.

Thermometers then and now

Is is warmer today that it was a hundred or more years ago? Is the 'average temperature' then as accurate as the average temperature today?

The question about the temperature data over the last few hundred years has less to do with the accuracy of thermometers a few hundred years ago and more to do with the number of them. There were not as many weather stations centuries ago as there are today. Temperatures were measured in a few places. This means that the so called average temperature taken a few hundred years ago is very inaccurate.

Motorcycle Deaths by the Numbers

Let me preface this for those that don't already know, I ride motorcycles. I wear my helmet and armored protective gear. THAT IS MY CHOICE!

Every year I read stories in the newspapers about the dangers of motorcycles and what our Government officials should or want to do to "protect" motorcyclists. Most every proposal put forward limits my freedoms, liberties and rights as an individual. The first false premise is that we are suffering from an epidemic of dead motorcyclists on our roads and that the motorcyclists must be protected from themselves. The next false premise is that Government has my best interests as their first interests. The last, but greatest false premise is if the Government steps in, limits my rights and forces me to comply with their "protective" measures the number of motorcycle deaths will decrease. This just isn't true. The traffic data shows that this is not true.

Motorcycle Accidents

For those blaming the motorcyclists I say is this. You would be screaming a different song if Hum-vees were driving around and crushing little Toyota Prius's every other day. You would protest, write letters to editors, call congressmen to get Hum-vees banned and jail their drivers. Hum-vee drivers would be blaming the owners of such small cars for driving something that can't be seen, has little or no protection for the occupants and blame them for their deaths if they weren't wearing a seat belt. Of course you would rightly reject those excuses.
