Christian Conservative Biker Geek

What the heck is that?

  • Christian - I am a Christian.
  • Biker - I ride motorcycles. Currently I ride a '99 Yamaha Royal Star Venture. It is a Luxury tourer class bike. My wife and I have taken many road trips and a few vacations on this bike.
  • Geek - Is an affection term that many of us programmers use to refer to ourselves. I am a programmer. I currently program in the Coldfusion (cfml) web application language. I have training and experience in many programming languages many of which I use daily such as SQL, PHP, ASP, PERL, C++, C, Javascript, and more. I've even done a little Fortan and assembler, but I don't want to ever again. I am also a self taught Systems Administrator. Over the years I've setup and installed for development and production use Windows, FreeBSD and Linux based servers. Currently I use strictly Linux based servers. I am also a self taught DBA using mainly PostgreSQL database server, but I am also familiar with MySQL and use MSSQL 2005 daily for my current employer. I also studied relational database theory in college.

Who am I?
Currently I live in St. Paul's Ward 2 with my wife in our house. We've lived here since 2002.

I was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1968 and lived in the South suburbs of Chicago until 1977 when my family moved to Dyer, Indiana. In 1981 my family moved to Ely, MN. In 1986 I graduated from Ely Memorial High School and moved to Hibbing, MN to attend Hibbing Area Vocation Technical College. I signed up with the US Naval Reserves on November 11, 1986 and entered Navy Basic training on June 2nd 1987. I completed my service in November of 1994. While I served during the first Gulf War I did not serve IN the war.

I attended several technical, community and state colleges from 1986 until 1998. I spent some of those years not in school or only part time. In 1996 I did receive my AA degree from Normandale Community College. During those years I focused more on electronics, computer repair, bio-medical electronics, psychology and speech and communications, writing and of course computer science.

I've been employed continuously since November of 1988 in various part-time jobs while attending school including 8 years at Hennepin County Medical Center working as a Bio-medical Electronics Assistant. Since 1998 I've been working in the computer science field at various web based companies in the Twin Cities doing web application programming along with systems administration and database programming.

more to come.
