MN Rep Still Wants More Taxes

*UPDATED* I recently signed the Tax Cut Petition, www.TaxCutPetition.com, calling upon my elected officials to implement a Minnesota taxpayer's bill of rights. I received a reponse from my MN State Representative Carlos Mariani Rosa of Saint Paul district 65B. Here is that email.

Wil:

Thank you for your email. I appreciate your views and the opportunity to respond to them.

As you know, Minnesota is facing the largest deficit in the history of the state: $6.4 billion over the next two years. Unlike the federal government, we are required by our constitution to have a balanced budget. This means we have some tough choices to make.

No one is denying that the state provides valuable services to the people of Minnesota: even the Governor's plan pays for essential services like schools, roads, public safety, and health care. The difference between Governor Pawlenty's "No New Taxes" approach and the approach of the Minnesota House is that Governor Pawlenty's plan involves charging $1 billion to the "state credit card" and forcing cities and counties to raise their local property taxes by $600 million (by his own department's estimates). I believe that it is irresponsible to pass the buck of paying for things we use today (police, teachers, road workers, judges, etc) onto future generations, or to force local property owners to foot the bill and then claim that he did not raise taxes.

I believe that we as a state need to be open and honest about how we tax our citizens, and need to make taxes fair and progressive so that people are supporting their government based on their ability to pay. While I agree that in these tough economic times, we need to be strategic in cutting costs where we can responsibly, the bottom line is that a strong, productive, and safe community cannot exist without essential services that benefit the public, both now and in the future. I believe that we should be transparent and honest, and make sure that tax burdens do not unduly fall on the backs of those who are less-prepared to pay.

I appreciate your email and your concerns. I appreciate this dialogue and hope that you continue to contact me with issues that are important to you. We might not always agree, but I take my responsibility as a state legislator seriously, and appreciate the chance to discuss these important matters openly and honestly.

Sincerely,

Carlos Mariani Rosa
MN State Representative

It seems that they know we exist and they just don't care.

60 year old cartoon warning of 'Ism'

This 60 year old cartoon foretells the perils of Socialism and Communism. It's amazing how accurate it is and how close we are coming to these as a Nation. 50 years ago the people of this Nation knew those 'isms' were bad for America, now the teachers in our schools are teaching the kids that these 'isms' are good. The Obama-nation needs to see this and learn from this cartoon before it's too late to turn back. We need to get our schools to quit teaching that Socialism and Communism are good. We need to return to the virtues of a Capitalist society and economy.

Saint Paul Minnesota Tea Party

Taxed Enough Already – Tea Party
April 15th 2009

The Saint Paul, Minnesota Tea Party was a success! It was held at the Minnesota State Capitol out front on the steps and front lawn of the Capitol building. The Tea Party drew approximately <strike>10,000</strike> ***UPDATE Rally organizers claimed about 10,000 during the rally, but now have revised that down to 7,500+. However, when you add up the totals for all the rallies in the Minnesota about 11,600+ people rallied for lower taxes. *** people to the rally and almost no gate cashers or trouble makers. They also managed to get the local news media out to actually cover the event. I saw Channel 5 cameras, van and helicopter. I also saw vans for channel 9 and 11. There was one other helicopter but I did not see the name on the side.

They had many speakers talking about the lack of responsibility being demonstrated by our elected officials on both sides of the aisle. One speaker was a Veteran that reminded us that the men and women who volunteer to serve in the Military and our Congressman take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. The only difference is when a member of the Military takes that oath he or she signs and open check payable to the Government and the citizens of this country and when cashed it can even mean giving up their life for their country. When a Congressman takes that oath too many times it it is looked at as an obstacle to maintaining their power and is often scoffed or laughed at.

Lets be clear, we are not anti-tax as the Liberal news media claims. We believe in paying taxes to support Constitutionally approved services. Paying for our Military is Constitutional yet Liberals have spent the last eight years complaining about the Constitutional spending by President Bush. We are against the bailouts started by President Bush and continued with full gusto by Obama. We are against most if not all the spending programs Obama is advocating. We do not want Government Health Care, mortgage bailouts for people that should never have been given a mortgage in the first place and so much more of Obama's budget. Obama is in favor of Socialism we are in favor of Capitalism.

No More Moderates

No More Moderates

The problem with the Republican party today is moderation. Many people believe that all things are good in moderation. This is hardly true. Rebranding Conservatism as Moderate or Kinder Gentler or Compassionate means your taking the true essence or heart and soul out of Conservatism. By definition Conservatism is compassionate. How so? Simple, Conservatives are against welfare right? That's what your told everyday by the main stream news media. Well we believe in reducing the need for welfare by helping those in need to help themselves. This is the Biblical principle of teaching a man to fish instead of just giving him a left over bit of fish every day or so. This is just one example of how the main stream news media lies about us and sets to political stage in the favor of Liberalism. After all saving planet Earth is good thing, but if point out their junk science your automatically in favor of total planetary annihilation.

It is time we start taking the fight back to the Liberals and their press agents, the main stream news media.
Response to Weak Minded Conservatives

My Response to Weak Minded 'Conservatives'

David Frum wrote a peice in News Week about why he thinks Rush Limbaugh is wrong. Mary Kate Cary of U.S News and World Report had to chime in about why she thinks Mr. Frum was right. I'm just an average American who works for a living and pays his own way in life and I had to respond to both of them that they're wrong. They are both out of touch with the Real America and that Rush Limbaugh knows the Real America as well as us Real Americans. We are Conservatives and we are not ashamed to say that because there is no real shame in being Conservative. While the urban centers of the Midwest are plagued by Liberals and their policies when you venture out of those areas you will find a very strong Conservative base. We also tend to be Christian and yes, we have guns. We believe in God, our country and family pretty much in that order. We live within our means and we are more than willing to volunteer our time and money to those in need.

We cannot redefine Conservatism as Liberalism Lite and expect anyone to take us seriously.

Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste

Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste is the theme of the Obama administration. They are using the Democrat created crisis to take control of your personal lives.

"We should have seen it coming.

Way back in November, when the Obama team was still flush with victory in the election, Obama White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel laid out what he called "Rule One":

"Never let a crisis go to waste."

The Obama budget plan unveiled last week is proof that the goal of the administration is not economic recovery. The goal is an unprecedented shift of power to politicians and bureaucrats."

Newt Gingrich

www.humanevents.com/article.php

In this article Newt goes into how Obama plans to "Change" America and his "Hope" that you don't notice.

1001 ways to steal an election. That's how many votes that were discovered or divined in favor of Al Franken in order for him to win.

On the morning after the election Senator Norm Coleman had a 776 vote lead. The margin was small enough to trigger an automatic recount. Then the stealing began.

The stolen votes:

Stolen Minnesota Sentate Seat

The Minnesota Senate seat <strike>is about to be</strike> has been stolen and Liberals are cheering this on. Why, because they are the ones doing the stealing. In the Florida 2000 election the Liberals screamed that Bush stole the election even though no matter how the votes where counted, even using the most skewed methods to determine 'Voter Intent', Bush won.

Now in Minnesota another election is being stolen and this time it is really being stolen. Senator Norm Coleman will most likely be out of his Senate seat by the end of this week if the Liberal controlled canvassing board gets it's way.

Why is this a stolen election? Simple. More votes have now been counted than the actual number of people that voted. How is this possible?

Minnesota Senate Vote Recount Intent vs Idiots

See is believing - some people are too stupid to vote

I was reading about the MN Senate vote recount today or more accurately looking at scans or photos of challenged ballots. This is scary. Minnesota has what has to be the easiest ballot in the country. There is a little oval next to the candidate name that you must fill in with a felt tip pen. This is just like the fill-in-the-oval tests that Minnesotans have been taking in the Government run schools for at least 40 years. Yet we have people scribbling all over the ballots making X's near a candidates name or near more than one candidate. Some of the "check marks" people have put down covers more than one or two candidates names. Still others circle the candidates name. Most or all of these would have been rejected by the optical scanner at the voting station and the poll worker should have instructed the voter to correct or fill out a new ballot correctly.

We are hearing lots of talk about renewing gun bans and requiring more registrations and or permits to have a gun or the even complete repeal of the Second Amendment all together. I truly believe that with Obama all of the above will be attempted pretty much in that order.

QUESTIONS:

Do you know that placing restrictions on the Second Amendment is unconstitutional?

What part of "...shall not be infringed." do people not understand?

Even four of our Supreme Court justices fail to understand that part.

I was signing up for an NRA membership preparing for the coming four years. Shortly after completing my signup I was browsing the store, to look for NRA items to purchase, and decided to hit the link to the Membership Signup. For a good 10 to 15 minutes the site was unavailable. I kept trying from other remote locations and had the same results.

I'm not sure what this means, but the Obama win seems to have caused a NRA membership rush.

Federation petition drive by the Saint Paul Police Offices.

It seems the fine men and women in blue feel they are not soaking the tax payers enough with their high salaries and now they are demanding more. Who doesn't feel for the poor beat Officer? After all they are our servants here to protect and serve us poor helpless citizens. Why not make sure they are paid well? I sure want them paid well. I want the Police to show up when I call them. Well, we have made sure they are paid well. Very well in fact.

The Lie Behind Ethanol Fuel

Math proves ethanol is a scam... In MN we've only had E10 or E85 for years. Gas mileage dropped when the switch was made. Now our RINO (Republican In Name Only) Governor wants to mandate E20. Tim Pawlenty is advocating E20 for his farmer friends and is trying to get the Federal Government to allow states to use E20 blended fuels. This can and will affect all states if this guy gets his way.

Why are you unemployed?

Take a look in the employment section of the newspaper. It's not exactly blank. Look at the job sites on the Internet. There are jobs waiting for someone willing to actually show up and work. Someone who speaks fluently and treats people with respect.

Our State and National Employment rate is very high. Very few people are not working. When Clinton was running for reelection in 1996 we had a National unemployment rate of around 5.6% and he and the media gleefully declared we were at full employment as a Nation. The month after Clinton left office the unemployment rate started climbing. Why? It had nothing to do with President Bush's policies. The economy was two quarters into a recession. Now we have about the same level of unemployment and the same people in the news media are now claiming that unemployment is out of control and we're in a crisis.
